Vaikka joka vuosi tuleekin ostettua jotakin uuttakin joulua varten, niin suurin osa koristeista säilyy kuitenkin samana vuodesta toiseen. Näistä virkatuista ja tärkätyistä lumihiutaleista tykkään aina yhtä paljon. Osa joulun tunnelmasta tuleekin juuri siitä, että koristeisiin liittyy muistoja ja ne tuovat jonkinlaista jatkuvuutta joulujen väliin. Ja ainahan ne voi ripustaa uudella tavalla. Eikä koristeisiin ehdi kyllästyäkään, kun suurimman osan vuodestahan ne ovat kellarissa omissa rasioissaan.
Sain yhden kurssin päätökseen tänään. Oppilaita odottaa enää vain tentti tammikuun puolivälissä. Minulla tietysti iso pino tarkistettavaa ja arvioitavaa, mutta on hyvä mieli sen suhteen, että yksi juttu on tältä vuodelta nyt purkissa luentojen puolesta ainakin. Nyt taidankin tarttua imuriin. Itselleni kiitokseksi, hehhe. Ei vaineskaan, mutta viikonloppuna oli mukava vieras, enkä viitsinyt sillä aikaa siivoilla ollenkaan.

Although I buy every year something new for the Christmas decoration at home, most of the things stay the same. For example these snow flakes were bought many years ago, but I always find a place for them. Perhaps that's also something that adds to the Christmas atmosphere, because the old items provide bit of repetition in form of familiarity and memories... Yet, one can always find new ways of setting the same old things up.
I lectured today the last lessons in one new course I have been teaching this semester. There will be a final exam in the middle of January, but otherwise the students are getting ready for the Christmas break, too. I'll have quite a pile of papers to grade in a day or two, but other than that, I am glad to say that one thing is now accomplished. Now my plan is to pick up the vacuum cleaner, as a thanks to myself, haha. The truth is that we had a nice guest for the weekend, and I usually skip cleaning when the guests are present, meaning I prefer to clean before and after rather than meanwhile.
