Chairs, covers and patience (or the lack of it)

Pieni rottinkituolien vilautus tässä vain. Ilman istuintyynyjä kuvauksellisuus on vähän niin ja näin, mutta mitäpä muutama koristetyyny ja kukkiva liljan oksa ei parantaisi. ;) Kuten kuvasta näkyy, tarvitaan kevyttä hiontaa ja uutta lakkakerrosta pintaan. Käsinojien etureunoista puuttui melkein kaikista punokset, mutta naulaukset olivat niin tukevat, ettei se haitannut. Viimeisen paikallaan olleen punoksen purin ja laitoin talteen varmuuden vuoksi. Uskoisin, että sen saa tarvittaessa liottamalla pehmenemään ja käytettyä sidoksena uudestaan, jos jossakin tarvitaan korjausta. Kaksi superpikalenksua kaupan nopeinta oikotietä käyttäen Ikean poisto-osastolle kuitenkin kannattivat. Toisella kierroksella myyjä nimittäin toi juuri sopivalla hetkellä setin Ektorp-sohvan irtopäällisiä ja sain sekä istuin- että selkänojatyynyjä varten päälliset halvalla. Olin jo ehtinyt sen verran mallailla tuolien tyynyjen kokoa, että tiesin Ektorpin tyynyjen koon mätsäävän ihan täysin rottinkituolien kokoon. Tarvitaan siis vaan hiukan korjausompelua ja ne superlonitäytteet. Harmi, ettei Ikea myy sohviin irtonaisia sisätyynyjä. No, tietysti business voisi loppua siihen, kun kukaan ei ostaisi enää sohvan runkoja, koska tyynythän ne on missä suurin käyttö näkyy...

Nyt mulla vaan tuntuu korjattavat tentti- ja tutkielmapinot kasvavan siihen malliin, että en tiedä, milloin tämä tuoliprojekti tästä etenee. Vaikka eipä ne tuolit tuosta karkuun juokse, vaikka minä vähän kärsimätön odottelija olenkin...

This is a little sneakpeak to the rattan chairs I bought some days ago. Without any seat cushions they are not very decorative to photograph though. But a blooming lily can improve anything, don't you agree? The chairs will need bit of sanding and a new layer of varnish, but other than that they are totally solid and fine. The second one of my faster-than-fast-short-cut-taking Ikea trips to their outlet area was rewarded. Just when I was there a sales person brought a set of Ektorp couch covers and I could find four matching pieces. I had already checked at home that Ektorp cushions would size-wise be a perfect match to the rattan chairs. I'll tell you more about that another time, but now I'm only missing the foam cushions for the covers. It's a pity Ikea does not sell individual cushions for their couches. But yes, I get do it. It would not be a smart business as people might stop buying new couches, because after all wear and tear is visible exactly in the cushions.

Now it just happens that the essays and exams are piling up on my desk with such a speed that I'm starting to wonder when I'll be able to proceed with this chair project! I get easily bit impatient with projects like this, but I'm certain the chairs themselves will be fine waiting for me...
